Private access road, gravel

A fairly smooth unbounded track through the forestry at Dunsyston, avoiding a busier road through Gartness on the way to Chapelhall. But could equally go on towards Salsburgh.

A rough, stony track across a former opencast mining site, with a bit of a climb towards the end, but more direct than the road around the site.

The end of the path from Clay Road at the Clay Crescent bus turning circle. All this could be upgraded to improve active travel permeability within Shirrel.

I don't see any reason why Clay Road shouldn't be upgraded to make an all-weather path serving the Shirrel area of Bellshill.

An expensive farm access road over the M8 motorway to Shawhead Farm.

The unmade path from Cardowan to Cardowan Moss. This could be improved.

A rough track from Cardowan to Cardowan Moss.

The path through the Luggiebank Wood Wildlife Reserve passes under Stirling Road.

A paint mark possibly for some sort of forthcoming work on the path through the Luggiebank Wood Wildlife Reserve.

A path junction in the Greenfaulds area of Cumbernauld.

The path past Woodlands Primary School in Greenfaulds.

Paths in Greenfaulds.

Accessible footbridge over Greenfaulds Road.

Another path junction that would benefit from some upgrading work.

As also seen in #99784, this path needs a proper surface, and it could be rebuilt slightly to the side to improve sightlines at the path junction.

Some potentially useful paths here, but the route crossing this one needs a proper surface, and the opportunity could be taken to move it away from the vegetation to improve sightlines.

A nice wide path through Smithstone, with a raised crossing across Old Tower Road, but is it Cumbernauld Cycle Network route 4?

It's not just youngsters that take shortcuts when the local path network as built is inadequate.

This path appears to have been forgotten about.

Not the prettiest, but a viable way through from Russell St to Mossend Primary School.

An underpass at the Glenmore Road/Loanhead Road roundabout, seen from the centre. Every other roundabout in the area seems to have some fancy design in the centre, but this one, where people can actually access the space in the centre, is j ... [more]

Underpasses at the Glenmore Road/Loanhead Road junction, looking into the centre from outside a gate at Brannock High School. Clearly this junction was planned to be part of something bigger than this.

The ramp at the pedestrian entrance to the college has multiple hairpin bends. There is plenty of room (on this brown-field site) for the ramp to be in a straight line since pretty much everybody using this entrance will have come from the ... [more]

Steep and narrow. The path from Blairlinn Industrial Estate to Lenziemill Road.

The ramp between the footbridge and forecourt at Cumbernauld station. This forms part of the Cumbernauld Cycle Network's route 1, although there are 'Cyclists Dismount' signs (see #80517 and #67691).

The Lye Brae footbridge looking towards Carbrain. The path alongside the houses continues right through Carbrain to meet the Cumbernauld Cycle Route 1, and is quite useable on a bike.

The Lye Brae footbridge, looking towards Kildrum. This could easily be part of the Cumbernauld Cycle Network.

An unnecessarily abrupt change of direction for path.

Ramp down from Clouden Road to bus stop and underpass on Kildrum Road.

The path from the Vault Glen at the Kildrum Road underpass.

Looking from the Vault Glen bridge towards Kildrum. The bridge is double width.

The Vault Glen path, looking from the Abronhill side towards the railway bridge.

The Vault Glen path, looking towards Abronhill.

Route 2 nears its end at the health centre car park in Abronhill (looking towards #80246).

Path into M80 underpass, retaining its original entrance.

Improved path at new entrance to underpass beneath widened M80 motorway at Wardpark Industrial Estate, with verge used to reduce problem of blind corner.

The path to the Wardpark Industrial Estate has been left to rot. Why not upgrade this path and include it in the Cumbernauld Cycle Network?

The asphalt gives way to this loose rocky surface on the slope down towards Nether Croy.

The footway goes around the edge of the car park, but it is easier to cut across the empty space to get to the Linkbridge lobby. Just watch the sloping kerbs.

The cycle route appears to be signed along the narrow footway around the outside of the rooftop car park, but there seemed to be no good reason not to cut across the half empty space rather than annoy the people outside the pub.

Ramp and stairs down to underpass beneath North Carbrain Road, linking to a residential area.

Not the best-sited litter bin on the path around Broadwood Stadium. Cycle parking for the leisure centre in at the right. New path from Blackwood coming in on the left.

The path around the stadium to the leisure centre and tennis courts.

A flight of steps that could be replaced by a ramp on triangular path junction. Funded by the National Lottery apparently.

A footpath in Cumbernauld that seems to have been forgotten about!

The path and track alongside the M80 motorway stop dead at a locked gate. Only the motorway carries on.

The path and track run together alongside the M80 motorway in the direction of Westfield.

The path meets a track near Stoneyetts.

A mysterious path next to the M80 motorway at Stoneyetts.

Another Cyclists Dismount sign at a footbridge.

The elevated walkway in front of the flats crosses an intermediate side road by way of a footbridge, with a Cyclists Dismount sign.

Elevated walkway in front of flats, connected to footbridges at each end.

Unusual double-humped footbridge across Lye Brae dual carriageway.

Path up to Cumbernauld Road Looking South. If aren't determined to go to the very end, this is a good place to exit. A little path on the right takes you up to Cumbernauld Rd. Shops and cafes nearby in Muirhead. But path gets extremely m ... [more]

Path from A80 Cumbernauld Road down to Strathkelvin Railway Path Very muddy in the Winter
